Strange(r) Things are Afoot at the Spectra

And with today's post we have reached the finish line for the 4th Annual Save Second Base Event.

Thank you for all the comments and participating in all the contests I ran this month.  Cards will all ship the first week of November.  Please link back to my blog and The National Breast Cancer Foundation.  It's important to share awareness all year long.

So with today's post, allow me to introduce...

Fricking Winona Ryder!!!!

Winona Fricking Ryder!!!

Anyone remember that scene from Heathers?

Winona is a treat at award shows

She is immortal in Hollywood
She's played the bad girl

And the good girl
And she has one of the best cinematic bounces in history.

She has a long history with Keanu Reeves.

Haven't I seen her wear that outfit before?
She barely aged in almost 30 years.

She isn't ever type casted, but often times she appears in supernatural movies/shows of some sort.

When it comes to a supernatural or unusual mind, very few outpace the mind of Tim Burton.  It is for that reason that on Halloween I will discuss how she has appeared in a trio of Tim Burton movies.
Her first feature lead role was in Beetlejuice
She would later pair up with Burton again in the Johnny Depp star performance, Edward Scissorhands.

She then lent her voice in the animated feature Frankenweenie.

That is a Triple T(h)reat and all are acceptable to watch for Halloween purposes.
No tricks here. This 2017 Chronicles Spectra triple relic Triple Threat card contains pieces that are guaranteed by Panini to have been game used.

Cardboard Cameo: Oh Austin, beeeeeehave

The finish line is in sight.  Thank you all for another fun Save Second Base event.

1 In 8 women will be detected with breast cancer in their life.  Early detection is the key.

Thanks to all the comments made we have met the goal of raising $150 to allow one 1 woman a free mammogram.

With Halloween tomorrow I was looking for some Halloween inspiration and noticed a perfect mix of Devil's Night and Halloween.

Elizabeth Hurley is that perfect mix.
Like a fine wine, she has actually gotten better with age.  Look at that body!
Not sure if it's bedazzling mojo or something else, but it is definitely working.
It seems appropriate to show off a woman who played the Devil tonight since it is Devil's Night.
When she played Satan in the Brandon Frasier comedy Bedazzled she took the phrase "hot" to another level.
It is odd that she played the Devil AFTER playing opposite Michael Myers, a name we all associate with Halloween.

However this Michael Myers was carving up laughs in Austin Powers

Oh Austin, behave...

I want to thank Chris from The Collector for pointing out this cameo appearance.
Anyone know what happened to his blog?  I was enjoying his all time roster series.

In researching the card, I learned that it didn't lead to a catch.

It actually lead to one of Cutch's best games offensively when he went 6 for 7 and hitting a walk off homer in extras

Thanks again to Chris for the tip about this cameo.

I hope you enjoyed this Devil's Day production as we lead into Halloween tomorrow.  Michael Myers will not be making an appearance tomorrow.

However if you say a name 3 times, stranger things will happen.

Falco Files: Career Opportunity?

There is only two more posts left for the 4th annual Save Second Base Event.  Thank you all for the number of comments you have posted and for anyone who has shared awareness during this month long event by showung their own pink cards.

1 In 8 women will be detected with breast cancer in their lifetime. Be sure to visit the official site here to learn more about what you can do to help find a cure.

All month long I have been showing some of my favorite female celebrities along with pink baseball cards to help bring awareness.

Jennifer Connelly is getting the spotlight today.

I mentioned last month that she was the first actress that I thought was pretty.  She was absolutely stunning in the Disney film adaptation of the comic book, The Rocketeer (as you can see above).

She reminds me of a vintage Hollywood queen with her acting and dark black hair.

As she aged she has remained beautiful and she is set to costar in Top Gun 2: Maverick opposite Tom Cruise.
From a visual standpoint, my favorite role is a 1991 film where she gets stuck inside a Target store.

If you want to see the bust of her check out the movie Career Opportunities where she gets stuck inside of a Target with the school's class nerd.
There are a lot of great Jen moments

The award winning actress best acting works are in Requiem for a Dream where she plays a recovering addict.
A Beautiful Mind is another great movie that shows her acting at it's best.

She also appeared in the Science Fiction thriller, Dark City
Jennifer underwent breast reduction and has become an advocate for women not doing plastic surgery as they get older despite many believing she has had nose, breast, and hairline surgery done over the past decade.
Even with her confusing stance on ethics and being hypocritical I still enjoy her acting and her roles when she was younger.

I was the biggest advocate for the Pirates keeping Andrew McCutchen on a lifetime contract and letting him play out the rest of his career with the Battlin' Bucs, BUT if the 2019 preview that Bryan Reynolds gave us this past season is any indication of what will come in the next six years, I am looking forward to many more seasons of Pirates baseball with Bryan Reynolds batting third and manning the outfield.

Call it a Career Opportunity, but as a fan I am grateful for the Pirates getting this young hit machine outfielder.

This Target hanger pack pink exclusive came in just enough time to make this year's Save Second Base event.

We only have 2 more days left....
