"Close enough" is only good for horseshoes and grenades

I have always wanted an on card autograph superfractor of Andrew McCutchen.

Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge, none exist.

Cutch became an official major leaguer in 2009, a year before the Stephen Strasburg/Jason Hayward/Bryce Harper prospecting boom craze the hobby currently "enjoys" began.

As a matter of fact Cutch had few on card autographs to offer prior to his debut.  All three (2004 Aflac Bowman set redemption, 2005 Bowman Heritage, 2005 Bowman Heritage Red Ink) didn't offer Superfractors variants.

Once he made his MLB debut in 2009, he didn't appear in any Chrome products as a certified autograph.

This makes My holy grail card of an autograph Superfractor impossible.

Panini uses technology similar to Topps to create a Superfractor style card that is called a Gold Vinyl.

Often times the Gold Vinyl is a 1/1, just like the Topps Superfractor.

Oddly enough 2017 Panini Chronicles offered an autograph version on Gold Vinyl stock, but it is numbered /3.

This is the closest I have gotten to my grail card, but alas it's logoless, numbered to 3 not 1, and has a sticker autograph.

It's close, but close only counts in hand grenades and horseshoes.

Just ask any Steelers fan today, close isn't good enough.

  1. Maybe someone at Topps will read this and create an on-card autographed superfractor of your boy in 2019.
