Today we celebrate our Independence Day

Since 2018, Topps has been printing Independence Day parallels in their flagship releases.
I have gotten the parallel each year, but so far haven't picked up the lone copy available on the secondary market from 2021 Topps Series 2.

This year's parallel just doesn't do it for me as you can see in the screenshot taken below from an eBay listing.
The stars look nice, but there's just nothing that screams out America Freedom on this design.  In previous year's designs there were at least attempts at showing off not only the stars, but also the stripes of our great country.  This year, nothing.

I do like the Topps Bunt app Independence Day cards though.
The above digital format only "card" looks very patriotic.

Let's look at the flagship parallels year by year and you can all comment below which is your favorite.
2018 Topps Series 1

2019 Topps Series 2

2020 Topps Series 2

2021 Topps Series 2 (not in my possession)

In addition to discussing your favorite year for the Independence Day parallel, leave a comment below how you plan to spend your 4th of July.

  1. A. Shame that Bunt card is digital, because it's gorgeous.

    B. 2019 is my favorite... mainly because I actually like the 2019 Topps flagship design.

    C. Meeting a co-worker for lunch and then headed to my friend's sister's for bbq.

  2. I mostly don't like the parallels in 2018 flagship, but the Independence Day version works really well. That's my vote. The 2021 version looks more like Donruss! Which is especially bad considering that the Topps and Donruss designs this year already are similar.

My only real plan for today is to watch the Mets sweep the doubleheader from the Yankees. Halfway there! I expect that I'll be able to see some fireworks from my porch, though. And I did go for a walk this afternoon before the first game and "met" a friendly deer in the neighborhood.

  3. Going with 2018, although it seems a little '70s graphic show production to me (if you get my drift). 2019 is lacking the blue.

My kid had a baseball game in the morning. They were set for an afternoon game but there were shenanigans in the game following ours (the first place team "threw" the game so they can play the "weaker" team) so our team didn't make it to the championship round. So there was an impromptu BBQ and fireworks watching. Hope you enjoyed the Fourth!
