Elf Week: Santa's Coming? I Know Him!!!!

My absolute favorite line from the movie, Elf, is "Santa's coming! I know him"

This was an easy association for a recent pickup.

I missed out on the unnumbered autograph version but did grab this serially numbered to 10 player worn Santa Hat relic.

It's almost time to put out some Oreos and hang the stocking by chimney with care.

Elf Week: Six Inch Ribbon Curls

JediJeff hit me with another of his suggestions for an Elf quote and I happily obliged to fulfill his request.

Today's quote is when Zooey Deschanel's character is arguing with her boss about the way the presents are supposed to look.

"Six Inch Ribbon Curls, Honey" he tells her.
"That's impossible" she defiantly replies.
"SIX .... INCHES...."he says ending the conversation

I was a little nervous trying to think if I could pull this one off when I read his quote suggestion.

Then it hit me.  The 2018 Topps design has a ribbon like look to it on the bottom.

Ok. This might work, but how do I come up with six inches (no stupid comments about this please!)

Wait a minute, I have the gold numbered to 10 copies of the Giants photo variant in a 5x7 format.

Ok I have a larger format card, but...

And I've done it again.  I paired up something in my Andrew McCutchen collection to a random quote from one of my favorite Christmas movies, Elf.

Elf Week: Francisco, that's fun to say

Today's line is "Francisco, that's fun to say. Francisco"

As Brad pointed out when he left the comment, Cutch played in San Francisco for half a season.

I could show off ALL my McCutchen Giants cards, but trust me when I say that would be a huge undertaking.  Remember when I showed that massive post of Cutch only in Yankees uniform?

It would be a Game Changer to highlight almost 250+ cards in one post, though.

Cutch is a pretty special player, but I'm not sure I am prepared for showing off all those cards in one post.  There's so many cards of Cutch in a San Francisco uniform worthy of their own post.

I could show off a bunch of cards that feature him in a Giants uniform that picture only jersey relic cards that feature the famous Golden Gate bridge found on the San Francisco Giants 60th anniversary sleeve patch like you see above (which is part of the card below)

Awhile back I showed off a few cards of Cutch that show him wearing the number 22 for the San Francisco Giants.  You can revisit that post here. The San Francisco Giants will retire #22 for Will Clark next year which means Cutch is the last player to wear the number 22 for San Francisco before it is retired.

I could even just show a few cards that represent Cutch wearing a road jersey that specifically says San Francisco

Or I could only show Panini cards that represent him as a member of the San Francisco baseball club.

I have some nice ones of those...

But that's a lot of cards to show off as well, many of which deserve their own post that I've been drafting since August 2019

How about a card that features Francisco Cervelli on the front and Andrew McCutchen on the back?

Or there is this 2015 Topps Heritage team card that shows what I believe to be both Cutch and Francisco Liriano in the right corner.

It's a better cameo of both them than this hidden cameo on Wandy Rodriguez' 2014 Topps card.

Oh you don't see Francisco?

That's because Topps cropped him from the right corner and McCutchen from the left.

Francisco, that truly is fun to say...

Elf Week: I'm in a store and I'm singing

Even though nobody suggested it, another of my favorite lines from Elf is "I'm in a store. And I'm singing!!!"

Singing...

I'm on the field....

And I'm singing....

Elf Week: Son of a Nutcracker

If you're a human who thinks he's an elf that grew up in the North Pole living with nothing but cheer and merry days, you likely wouldn't curse even when things don't go according to plan.

Instead you say "Son of a Nutcracker"

John recommended this quote and I have to admit I was stumped trying to find a card featuring son or nutcracker.

It wasn't until I was putting away one of my binders containing base cards that I noticed I had a Nuts For You bobblehead from Andrew's Altoona Curve days.

It may be a stretch, but NutsForYou is a family run business (thus the son of a nutcracker).  They sponsored this bobblehead as a giveaway in 2013.

 Cutch wore #10 for the Curve.

Elf Week: Best Coffee

Brad from Brad's Blog recommended the quote "You did it! Congratulations! World's best cup of coffee! Great job, everybody! It's great to meet you"

Buddy the Elf would actually believe this coffee shop to be the best coffee, but while on a date with Jovie she doesn't agree.

Andrew McCutchen had a teammate in Pittsburgh that hasn't lived up to the hype of being a top 10 prospect in baseball.  Gregory Polanco, nicknamed El Cofee, has had a lot of injury plagued seasons since his 2014 debut.

Not planning to have the World's Best "To Cofee" collection, I do actually have a pretty good one though.

Those are some of my better Polanco cards.  I have another dozen or so sticker autos with Polanco's scribble on it.

I also have a "few" multiplayer relics with Cutch and Polanco.
