I have needed a 2010 Topps Peak Performance Relic Blue parallel /99 for a long time. They don't pop up for sale very often. Only 2 have hit the market in past year. They aren't overly expensive, but they are just rare to come by.
I finally saw one, but it was graded with substandard grades. (Only an 8)
I needed the card, but hate the grade. For $6 it seemed like a fair price to grab it. Should I remove it from the case or just keep it as is?
If I do choose to remove it, what is the best way to do so?
Since they are so hard to come by, I'd get it regardless of condition. If a better copy comes along, you can always upgrade!
ReplyDeleteI don't much about grading, but I'm pretty sure an 8 on a card like that isn't that desirable of a grade -- so I'm of the opinion that he should be freed! As for the removal, check YouTube, there are plenty of good videos showing how to safely remove cards.
ReplyDeleteKeep it as is
ReplyDeleteGet it. You can always grab a replacement later if one appears but you'll 100% regret it if you pass on it and never see another one.
ReplyDeleteHammer and Flathead screwdriver once you chop off a corner of the holder. Shouldn't be too difficult.
Sometimes I free my graded cards... and sometimes I keep them encapsulated. It depends on the situation. With this Cutch... I'd pop it out. The grade is lower than I'd expect for a card that's less than 10 years old. But that's just me.
ReplyDeleteHow do you store/display your cards? I am moving back toward pages and obviously graded cards can't go into those so I might crack it out. However, if you have a display of graded cards, just leave it in! Great pickup for a low grade. It's always nice to "check off" a card while waiting for an upgrade.
ReplyDeleteRelics and autos all stored in top loaders or one touches. 1/1s in One Touches. High dollar parallels (Gold Heritage, Red Chromes, etc) are stored in One Touch Mags.
DeleteAll base and parallels stored in 3 binders for just the Cutch cards.
All vintage stored in binders (ex ept Clemente).
