Don't Blink or You'll Miss It

Topps offered more signed Andrew McCutchen cards to chase in 2018 than any of the previous 7 years combined.  This sounds like an awesome thing if you want to collect Andrew McCutchen signed baseball cards, right?

Well it is....and it's not.

There was two problems with all those autographs that hitting the market.
1)All but one parallel was numbered to less than 25 copies.
2)With the exception of the 1/1 buybacks all the cards featured him in a Giants uniform. (Only the 1/1 buybacks featured him as a Pirate)

With other McCutchen fans, Giants fans, and set collectors all eyeing up the cards I wanted to add to my collection I would need to act quick if I wanted to add the card.

To put it simply, Don't Blink or You Might Miss It became an all too familar thought process for cards released September to January as more and more limited autographs became available.
The Don't Blink insert set from 2018 Topps Update was one of my favorite inserts from Topps in a long long time.  All too often we get the "1st" (debuts, home runs, etc) from Topps or get the Tape Measure Home Run style inserts.  To get something like this that recognizes speedy players running in a Flash comic style insert is awesome. The Flash is my favorite comic character of all time and every one of these cards features the top athletes in baseball running like the Flash.

Cutch had only 5 of these produced.
The back features the same write up as the traditional insert back.

In case you missed it, the Phillies are playing in Kansas City and Cutch aka Zoom got a chance to meet some of the Nascar Drivers.  The article can be found here.

It looks like Cutch wants to start zooming again.

Anyone know who these drivers are?

  1. I think, from top to bottom, is Martin Truex, Clint Bowyer, Ty Dillon.

That's a lot of low parallels to track down!

  2. Cutch looks like he is working on his next career. But is it reporting or Nascar, lol.

  3. Reading this post and hearing about Topps and their low serial numbered autographs kinda makes me glad I'm not a true super collector of any one player.

  4. I am so glad that I'm not a super collector, as I really don't think that I could handle all of the stress that comes with being one.
