Nothing Small about this Smallville Actress

Each year during the month of October, I show off only pink (and shades of pink like magenta, peach, etc) to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer, a leading cause of death for females in the United States.  For each (meaningful, non spam) comment left by those that follow the blog I donate a dollar to hopefully help at least one woman get a much needed mammogram.  Early detection is key!!!

If you want to make your own private donation please visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  There is a donate button on the main page and it only takes a minute of your time.  Every little bit helps.

I have focused primarily on cards that only feature Andrew McCutchen on the card, but in recent years have also featured cards with a cameo appearance (either being seen on the card or as a name cameo on the back of the card).  Last year I created Falco Files which discussed players that replaced (Shane Falco Replacements movie reference) on an active roster, number worn, or trade.  I will continue to utilize these styles of posts as we celebrate the 4th Collecting Cutch Save Second Base event (I am no longer counting my first run on the Pirates Treasure Room I did back in 2014.)

Please be sure to click here for a Babe Ruth relic card I am offering as a contest prize to one lucky person who posts their own pink cards for the month.  I am matching the $1 per comment on YOUR BLOGS too if you show off pink cards.

You ready to get started

At the end I will be revealing another contest winner that ties in directly with today's subject matter.
I'm sorry (not really) if you're sick of this image already, but today I am showing off Kelly Brook.

Kelly Brook is a model and actress.

Model turned actress
She appeared in the film Piranha 3D abd The Italian Job
She has also starred in Keith Lemon

She appeared on FHM's Sexiest Women List from 1998 to 2015, winning the claim in 2005.  In 2004 FHM produced a top 50 of the previous decade (1994-2004) and she placed in the top 10.  The following decade's voting 2004-2014 she again placed in the top 10 proving that for nearly two decades now Kelly Brook has been dropping mouths with her gorgeous body.

Kelly Brook is stunning even after celebrating her 40th bday last year.

Brook appeared in Season 1 of the Superman Prequel series, Smallville, where she played Lex Luthor's girlfriend, Victoria Hardwick.

She is no slouch when it comes to Baseball either as she demonstrated with former costar of Smallville's Lex Luthor, Michael Rossenbaum, in 2014.
Smallville has become a new generation's Superman, but many people remember the Christopher Reeves 1978 Superman as being the iconic version of Superman.

In 2018 Topps produced an online set of exclusive cards based on the 1978 design.  One of the subjects was Andrew McCutchen.  The "purple" parallel you see above definitely has pink hues in the top right corner.  This card is also serially numbered 22/xx adding to my Cutch22 collection, a mini collection of Andrew McCutchen Jersey numbered parallels.

Now for the contest winner
I asked people to show off cards had a 3D look to them on their blog and I was surprised that only 4 people participated.

I said I would random it off 3 times (1 for each Dimension?)
Fuji was on top after the first random
John took over for the 2nd
And Fuji finished back on top for the 3rd random.

Congrats Fuji! Email your address and I will get the Kelly Brook autograph out to you in the coming week

For some comment chatter below feel free to discuss Kelly Brook, congratulations to Fuji, your favorite model turned actress, turning 40, or anything relating to Smallville/ Piranha 3D.

We mustn't dwell. No not today. Not on Rex Manning Day

Last year I wrote about Rex Manning Day and how cursed Cutch's performance at the plate is on that day.  You can revisit that post here.

I focused that post on giving some background information on Rex Manning Day and the actor Maxwell Caulfield, who played Rex Manning.

I will continue to celebrate Empire Records and Rex Manning Day every April 8th.  Each year I will discuss one character from that 90s cult classic movie.

Today I will focus on the character Mark, played by Ethan Embry.  Embry is known for having major roles in coincidently 2 of my favorite 90s films

Mark from Empire Records

He also played Preston Meyers in Can't Hardly Wait

The character Mark was a base for how my midteen years were.

Like Mark I was in a band.
I listened to Gwar.
I dyed my hair blonde.
I wore ringer shirts.
I had a metal chain I wore around my neck.

Ethan's character definitely helped influence my physical appearance.

In 1995 when Empire Records came out I was only 14 and liked the goofiness of Ethan's character.  He was fun and likable by everyone despite having different tastes in music than other mainstream acts.

My absolute favorite scene in the movie is when "Warren" tries to steal a few CDs and Mark screams (with his voice cracking) SHOPLIFTER!!!!

Ethan was only a few years older than me (he was born in 1978) when I became aware of his acting career.

In 2018 Topps produced an online exclusive set based loosely on the 1978 design.  Within each box there were multiple autograph subjects and color parallels to chase.

I was able to secure the red autograph numbered to 10 copies over a year ago.
One of the best quotes from Mark in Empire Records is "We mustn't dwell. No not today. We can't. Not on Rex Manning Day."

Cutch is 6 for 37 in his career on Rex Manning Day.  Good thing we aren't dwelling.

Are you a fan of Empire Records?
If so who is your favorite character?

Back In Time?

How did Andrew McCutchen, a player born in 1986 end up on a baseball card resembling a 1978 design wearing a Giants uniform he wore in 2018?

Is there some kind of Flex Compacitor funny play going on?
A Delorian was seen cruising McCovey Cove

I have had this Cutch 22 card (a serially numbered card to Cutch's jersey number) sitting around unscanned for half a year.  It is from an online exclusive set Topps produced mid summer 2018.

Topps used their On Demand (similar to Topps Now) to produce a set of cards.  Details for the set can be found here.  It was at the height of Sho-Time when everyone wanted a Shohei Otani autograph and base cards were all selling for double digit figures.

The set included 30 base cards (guaranteed complete base set), 2 parallel cards, and 3 inserts.  Of the inserts were
Famous Flashback (set that features retired players accomplishments)

4 x player rookie card (4 rookies at each position) designed in the same model as the famous Trammel, Molitor rookie cards of same year

Then and Now (a player of 1978 with a current rookie player) in the same design from the 1978 Then and Now subset.

In addition 1 in every 2 packs would feature a sticker autograph.

With a print run of 2,040 sets produced there was a lot of neat parallels to chase down.

Cutch only appeared for the red /10 autograph set which I will show off in a future post.

If you are a fan of the 1978 design or last year's stacked rookie class you might want to see if you can find some cards from this limited release.
