Some Glitter I don't hate

Each year during the month of October, I show off only pink (and shades of pink like magenta, peach, etc) to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer, a leading cause of death for females in the United States.

Due to my own financial situation this year I will not be able to make a donation for each (meaningful, non spam) comment left by those that follow the blog.  Once things settle down on the home front though I will be looking to make a donation in 2022 based on the comments left during this year's event.  Hopefully together we can help at least one woman get a much needed mammogram.  Early detection is key!!!

If you want to make your own private donation please visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  There is a donate button on the main page and it only takes a minute of your time.  Every little bit helps.

I have focused primarily on cards that only feature Andrew McCutchen on the card, but in recent years have also featured cards with a cameo appearance (either being seen on the card or as a name cameo on the back of the card).  In 2019, I created Falco Files which discussed players that replaced (Shane Falco Replacements movie reference) on an active roster, number worn, or trade.  I will also be showing some Cutch's Crew cards that show pink cards of players that have played with Cutch on multiple teams. I will continue to utilize these styles of posts as we celebrate the 5th Collecting Cutch Save Second Base event (I am no longer counting my first run on the Pirates Treasure Room I did back in 2014).

I am always looking for new ways to incorporate new celebrities into the event so today I am presenting

Mariah Carey
She rose to the billboards in the 90s and has become an international star thanks to her multiple platinum albums.
She was named the artist of the 90s
The New York native is has also been a judge for American Idol
One of her most famous songs All I want for Christmas has transformed her into the moniker of "Queen of Christmas"

She starred in the film Glitter which also topped the Billboards for it's soundtrack.

Begining in 2021 Topps began producing a Magenta Speckled parallel in it's Topps Chrome release that looked like it was covered in glitter.
The cards are all numbered to 350 copies.
I hate glitter!!!!  I wrote about my disgust with glitter 4 years ago here.

Do you have any strange hated items?

What's on your Christmas list?

Fry Day, Friday

Rebecca Black

Rebecca Black made a song in 2011 and it went viral on YouTube among a few other social media platforms.

The song was called Friday, not to be confused with Fry Day

Friday featured Black riding around singing about her friends and what they were going to do that night.

It was dubbed by several music critics as the worse song of all time.

Today Black is all grown up and still involved with music, but she is not associated with thousands of memes like she was back in 2011.  That song did springboard a small part of a Katy Perry music video though.

Today Rebecca is all grown up and she is back on stage.

Black Friday Magenta Color Progression Proof
The back of the card (like all progression cards) is blank backed.

Where are the best fries found and what style of fries do you prefer?

Do you have any color progression cards in your collection?

Upton Here, Upton Here

I am always looking for new ways to incorporate new celebrities into the event, but today I am presenting a favorite of mine

Kate Upton

We all know who she is
She helped to promote MLB 2K12, which featured her now husband on the cover.
She has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated

More than once...

She clearly is no stranger to baseball

One of the best memes for baseball was using rapper DMX's song lyrics Y'all Gonna Make Me Lose My Mind, Up in here, Up in here and converting it to a meme about the Upton brothers playing together in Atlanta (and again in San Diego)

Justin Upton has appeared on numerous cards with Andrew McCutchen over the years, mostly as relic cards.  I was able to secure a nice pair (no pun intended for this month's theme) of Cutch and Upton printing plates two years ago.

This is the magenta plate.
It is an uncirculated card from Just Minors.
You can view the cyan plate I showed off back in April 2019.  This post has been in draft mode for over two years waiting for the right time to show it off.  With the limited technology I have and my cards being all over NJ, I have had to resort to my scanned files of cards that I never showed off, but have scanned on a flash drive.

Have you ever drafted a post and waited over 2 years to show it off?

Not Everything is Flat in Florida

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Visit the official site here.

Breast Cancer will be detected in one of eight women in the US each year.
It is the second leading cause of cancer death among women each year.
On average every 2 minutes a woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer and every 13 minutes one person will die from breast cancer.
There are currently 33 million breast cancer survivors in the USA.

It's important to support the research for cancer.  Breast Cancer is often associated with the color pink so I will be showing off some pink Cutch cards.

In addition, you can expect to see some boobs with each post.  Who doesn't love boobs?

So let's start with what we're hoping to save!
Today's model is...

Christina Lucchi aka Christina Marie Hopkins aka Christina Model

Began getting famous for this ad
Among other ads for a t-shirt company

She began "modeling" at a very young age while still in high school.
Which lead to more t-shirts for her to model

In the days of MySpace, she was a very popular popup.

If you've seen gifs of bouncing boobs before you have likely come across a few of hers

Do I still have anyone's attention with the words I'm typing?

Uh oh

It's flatlining like Florida...
Oh wait, never mind....

Since she was just a high schooler when she became famous, I thought we should go back to school for some word studies.

Today's word study is Piedmont.

Piedmont comes from the Italian word "piemonte".  It simply refers to a gentle slope from the base of mountains to a region of flat land.

Piedmont is a 2 syllable word.

2!

Gentle slopes

To remind us that not everything is flat in Florida.

The 2010 T206 Piedmont Mini magenta printing plate was one of the first printing plates I ever got of Cutch.  At the time I had already quit MySpace and those annoying popup Tshirt ads featuring Christina Lucchi Model Hopkins.

But that picture is just as famous today as it was 10 years ago.
Look to Twitter for proof.

It is going to be a fun October.
I have been working on posts for this month long event for about 9 months.
I am open to any suggestions tho...

So hot, it's fire 🔥 🔥 🔥

So let's start with what we're hoping to save!

Rosario Dawson

I first became aware of Dawson for her role in Men in Black 2 opposite of Will Smith.

She has gone in to star in many movies and TV shows.

Right now she is a HUGE part of the Marvel Netflix Universe where her character is the only character to appear in all seasons of Daredevil, Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Defenders, and The Punisher.

Being a NJ guy and living just a few minutes from Kevin Smith's comic shop, I of course have it in my blood to love all the View Askew films including Clerks 2.  Her jiggly personality as Rebecca helped save that film.

Over the years Dawson has also lended her voice to comic and princess type stories like Wonder Woman, Lego Batman, and Tinkerbelle.

This of course in addition to movies like Sin City 2 where she stole the spotlight.

For an actress who's first role was a movie called Kids she is living out every kids fantasy of being super popular and appearing in movies, tv, film, and music videos.

She has starred across action stars like Bruce Willis in the film Fire with Fire.

This 2017 Fire Magenta is numbered to 25 copies.
It is a card I grabbed last year for the Black,Friday special they were doing on COMC.

DONT SET FIRES ON DEVIL'S NIGHT!!!
