Not Helen Hunt

Each year during the month of October, I show off only pink (and shades of pink like magenta, peach, etc) to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer, a leading cause of death for females in the United States.

Due to my own financial situation this year I will not be able to make a donation for each (meaningful, non spam) comment left by those that follow the blog.  Once things settle down on the home front though I will be looking to make a donation in 2022 based on the comments left during this year's event.  Hopefully together we can help at least one woman get a much needed mammogram.  Early detection is key!!!

If you want to make your own private donation please visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  There is a donate button on the main page and it only takes a minute of your time.  Every little bit helps.

I have focused primarily on cards that only feature Andrew McCutchen on the card, but in recent years have also featured cards with a cameo appearance (either being seen on the card or as a name cameo on the back of the card).  In 2019, I created Falco Files which discussed players that replaced (Shane Falco Replacements movie reference) on an active roster, number worn, or trade.  I will also be showing some Cutch's Crew cards that show pink cards of players that have played with Cutch on multiple teams. I will continue to utilize these styles of posts as we celebrate the 5th Collecting Cutch Save Second Base event (I am no longer counting my first run on the Pirates Treasure Room I did back in 2014).

I am always looking for new ways to incorporate new celebrities into the event so today I am presenting
Leelee Sobieski

She rose to fame thanks to her roles on Joan of Arc, Deep Impact, and Never Been Kissed
Her interview of the Jay Leno show when she was only 16 years old shows how extremely intelligent she is. You can watch it on YouTube here.
In the 90s she began getting more headlining roles such as the thriller Joy Ride starring the late Paul Walker

She hasn't been involved in acting for nearly a decade as she has focused on art and being a mother.
Leelee will always look like a Helen Hunt doppelganger to me and I most remember her for her role in The Glass House

Above is the 2016 Gypsy Queen Glassworks box topper, red parallel.  It has many more pink hues than red.
Above are the base and red parallels side by side.

A Queen Among The Boys

I am always looking for new ways to incorporate new celebrities into the event so today I am presenting
Dominique McElligott
She's appeared in Hell on Wheels
The Irish born actress is getting more roles in Hollywood thanks to one of her most recent projects, Amazon Prime's The Boys.
In the show she played the role of a comic book character

In the Amazon Prime show The Boys she plays Maggie Shaw aka Queen Maeve

Mauve is a color found between pink and violet on the color wheel.

It's also one of the parallels found in this year's Gypsy Queen.
Gypsy Queen, like many other Topps products, added a new color parallel to their rainbow wheel this year when they introduced mauve parallels limited to 75 copies.

Have you watched The Boys on Amazon Prime?

Who are your favorite female comic characters?

Do you think Fanatics will be producing dozens of color parallels for each release when they take over the sports card market in a few years?

Just Another Mini Monday, I could've posted this on Sunday....

I think I may be on to a new theme...

Anyone else on board?
If you want to see a mini card each Monday for the forseeable future, leave a comment below.

Above is the 2014 Topps Gypsy Queen mini leather 1/1.

By the way, Andrew McCutchen scored his 1,000th career run yesterday along with hitting his 350th career double.

ICYMI : The Magic of 250

In case you missed it, Andrew McCutchen hit his 250th Career Home Run on Wednesday night.

Here is a breakdown of his 250 HR by team
203 Pirates
15 Giants
5 Yankees
27 Phillies

I wanted to show off a few of my cards that were serial numbered to only 250 copies and decided to start with 2016 and 2017.

My reason for those years?
Well, that's around the time I changed my focus from collecting all things Pittsburgh to be mostly just CollectingCutch

So without further ado, here are a few of my serially numbered cards to 250 copies

Now I should warn you all that if you have allergic reactions to the color purple, it is best to change the general direction of your eye gazing.

Let's begin with the year 2017
Bowman Platinum purple holofoil

Bowman's Best purple refractor

Topps Gallery 1951 Bowman Heritage green
Gypsy Queen purple border
⚾ ⚾ ⚾

Now we will travel back to 2016
Bowman Chrome purple Refractor

Bowman purple
Bowman Platinum purple

Bowman's Best Blue

Topps Finest purple

Gypsy Queen purple

Triple Threads Emerald

I do plan to make more posts celebrating Cutch's 250th career Homerun and will be taking a deeper dive into his homers.

Don't forget to head over to topps.com and purchase yourself a copy of the Topps Now card. I secured myself a copy of the base and the red parallel autograph limited to 10 copies.

Interrupt With An Important Announcement

If you have been following my blog for at least a year, you know we are approaching one of my favorite months of the year, October.  Each October I like to bring awareness to breast cancer, one of the leading causes of death in all females.

While browsing Twitter today, I came across a message from Brandon Crawford and his wife with support from Andrew McCutchen and his wife.

Here is a link to the Catch A Cure Twitter with support from Brandon Crawford, Andrew McCutchen, Buster Posey, Greg Maddux, Eric Hosmer, and many others.

Taken directly from Tiny Turnips page where you can buy merchandise to support children with cancer is this message

"100% of Profits from the sale of items in the “Catch A Cure” Collection will benefit The Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego.  The Peckham Center is home to a full range of specialized cancer treatments and hematology services, as well as psychosocial resources, life-after-cancer programs and pace-setting clinical research. As a not-for-profit hospital that ranks among the top pediatric hospitals in the country, Rady Children's relies on philanthropy to continue to provide world-class care to more than 250,000 children each year"

I know I ask for people to donate in October, but here is a chance to not only help benefit children fight cancer, but you can also get some neat swag too.
Personally, I'm going for one of those cool mugs and maybe a t-shirt with my name on the back.  I hope I can share the story about the organization to anyone that asks "What's Catch a Cure" mean?

MLB has recently began allowing players to wear a golden ribbon on their uniform in September.

Many of the 2019 Gypsy Queen autograph cards of Andrew McCutchen feature him wearing the gold ribbon to support Child Cancer Awareness.

I am still in need of the base autograph, but have the Bazooka Back, Fortune Tellers Mini, Rainbow Foil, and Black and White parallels.

And here is a card that features 3 of the more famous players to support the Catch a Cure program.
It is my 2018 Triple Threads booklet card with some very large patches including a sleeve patch, the R in a San Francisco grey uniform and the G in a home Giants uniform.

Happy Jackie Robinson Day (again)

For the second time this year, MLB is celebrating Jackie Robinson Day.

Jackie Robinson Day is traditionally celebrated on April 15th each year to recognize the day he broke the color barrier, but due to the world wide pandemic the games on that day were cancelled.  The MLBPA wanted to still recognize what Jackie did even during a short 60 game season.  The date was set for today and it couldn't have come at a better time to recognize the struggles that Jackie faced as the United States are once again having lines drawn for racism.

Let's take a moment today and remember we are all people, regardless of skin tone.

Jackie Robinson started a change in the world over 70 years ago and we continue to face that change today.

Here are all the Andrew McCutchen cards I have that feature a reference to the man that changed the game, #42 Jackie Robinson.
This is now a top 10 card in my collection.  I bought it via Twitter.  It features the Jackie Robinson Patch worn by Cutch on April 15, 2018 when Cutch was a member of the Giants.  It also has a nice on card signature and the hologram referencing the game the patch is from.  This card is SICK!!!

Here are a pair of parallels that Prizm unfortunately doesn't do anymore.  These are the 2013 and 2014 Jackie Robinson parallels numbered to 42 copies.  Each card is serially numbered on the back and feature a "42" pattern border.

2018 Gypsy Queen Jackie Robinson variant base and logo swap.  There are also color parallels of this card to chase as well (green and black). Cutch is circling the bags after what became a game winning homerun in late innings at Wrigley Field 2017.
Here is the 2018 Jackie Robinson manufactured pin relic available in packs of 2018 Update.
This is the 2017 version.
Here are a pair of 2012 Triple Threads Unity Gold Relics numbered to only 9 copies.  Both cards feature Cutch in a Jackie Robinson Day uniform and reference two of Cutch's early career accomplishments (the 2009 Topps All Rookie Team and the 2010 Heart and Hustle Award).
National Treasures produces a Jackie Robinson tribute in their sets from time to time.  This diecut version is from 2015.
The following year had a more colorful design, but the die cut was removed and the jerseys were no longer guaranteed to be worn on Jackie Robinson day.
Cutch received the photo variant Jackie Robinson parallel in 2019 Gypsy Queen.  The patch on the right sleeve is the same patch I own and I showed to begin the series of posts.

He also got the autograph treatment in 2019 Gypsy Queen.
