Happy Roberto Clemente Day!!!

I almost forgot about this until I heard Clint Hurdle do an interview on XM radio.

I've shown off a bunch of Roberto Clemente cards on here before which you can see by clicking this link.  So far all my Heritage Comparisons have been with Clemente and Cutch.

Andrew McCutchen has a lot of hardware and trophies in his cases at home, but one that he said he is exceptionally proud of is winning the Roberto Clemente Award in 2015.  It doesn't matter what you do on the field, it matters what you do to people's lives.

In case you missed one of my earlier posts this year I showed off this photo variant of Clutch with the Roberto Clemente Award.  This is by far my favorite photo variant I own of Cutch.

Stadium Club Parallels

With all the high end cards I have been buying there are still lots of parallels I need from 2017 Stadium Club.  A few weeks ago I showed my 3 Stadium Club Parallels from 2016.

Now it's time to show (sadly) my only 2 parallels from 2017.

So far all I have is the 1st Day Issue (/10) and Sepia.  I am still in need for the base, black and white, black foil, gold foil.  If you have any of these and are willing to work out a trade hit me up.

Does anyone have any of the other parallels or even the base?

Cardboard Cameos #2: The Bell keeps Ringing

Josh Bell preserved his rookie status this season by only having 147 official at bats last year.  The Pirates did this intentionally so that he could compete for the Rookie of the Year.  Many thought at season's beginning that it would be Dansby Swanson's to lose.

Well they were right as Swanson has been substandard.  However it was a Dodgers rookie who is the clear cut favorite to win Rookie of the Year.  Cody Bellinger has the award locked down having crushed 36 HomeRuns and driving in 82 for the Hollywood franchise.

Elsewhere in Pittsburgh is a dreaded first baseman that NO ONE is talking about nationally.  Josh Bell, the second round talent that broke the CBA draft rules, is crushing the ball albeit for a no contender team.  With his HomeRun yesterday Bell has now surpassed Chipper Jones for most HRs by a switch hitter rookie in the National League.  His 24th blast on the year has also pushed him closer to 80 RBI on the season.

So while everyone is talking about the great year that Bellinger is having, let's not forget that IN PITTSBURGH there is a rookie putting up really good numbers.

Bell
.264 avg/ .343OBP 82 RBI 24HR

Bellinger
.270avg /.349 OBP 82 RBI 36HR

Cutch is amused ever so slightly that the Dodgers get all the attention.

A few more Hits!!!

Cutch will likely finish the season shy of reaching 1,500 career hits as he currently sits at 1,435.  Having played just shy of a 9 year career with nearly 1500 hits, 200 Home Runs, and 175 stolen bases will definitely keep him on a Hall of Fame career path if he plays close to 20 years in the Majors.

Here are 4 of my recent Hits Memorabilia pickups I have acquired.
Last night I lost a really unique looking one because I was in the middle of my Fantasy football draft.  I have another draft I am doing tomorrow and wouldn't you know there's 2 cards I am bidding on that end while the draft is going on.

Gold is Good!

BOOM!!!!!

I made a comment a few weeks ago that I needed to add more Optic to the collection.  A nice numbered /10 ought to help fill that void for a bit.

This card brings my Cutch needs down to 2,512 unique cards to go.

Keep on Collecting!

A Pair of Museum 5x7s

I have very slowly been adding more 5x7 cards to the collection
Earlier in the year I showed a 1/1 sketch card that Carlos Cabaleiro did along with the blog's first interview.

It's nice to own an original piece of Carlos' work, but he really upped his game for the 2017 Museum series.

I would love to own the original to the 2017 card.

A Tiny Tribute

I got a new 2013 Topps Tribute card in, bringing my rainbow to 5 cards.  I still need the Red /5 and Purple /1.

For now I am happy to knock off another nearly completed rainbow.
