Black History month kicks off today. For MOST of the month I will be reflecting on people that have impacted "black history" by talking about famous athletes, politicians, etc. In addition I will be showing off only black cards (except for National Wear Red Day which is the first Friday of every February).
The card I chose to show off today is a 2015 Topps Tribute Onyx Parallel. In my opinion 2015 had the best design of any tribute set. Unfortunately the product was recalled because the pens used were not good for autographs and many hobbyists complained about smudged autographs.
The back has the standard multiple bulletpoints of a player's accomplishments.
Who are some black athletes you would like to see the spotlight on this month?
A Blog About My Journey To COLLECTING CUTCH. Over 3,500 unique cards and nearly 300 1/1s of Andrew McCutchen

50/50 chance
I have shown off a few of the player breaks I have participated in before to varying degrees of success.
Fortunately, I have never struck out completely by obtaining ZERO cards or cards of value for less than what I paid for my winning bid.
When I saw the Triple Threads checklist and noticed that Cutch had a few autographs in the product, I knew I would once again be participating in one.
The eBay seller rainwhiskerr offered an entertaining group break and made the break quick and fun. His youtube channel boomo99 provided the playback as I wasn't able to watch the break live.
While I didn't hit any major patches or even a sticker auto I did grab 2 base cards.
And a black/onyx parallel numbered to 50.
I guess there's always a 50/50 chance of not being successful. My best card in the case break was the Onyx parallel numbered 50/50.

All in all these 3 cards netted me a loss of about $6 from my gamble compared to if I had purchased them individually.

Rock n Troll
I can't come up with any clever titles for today's post. So instead you're getting a bad pun as I troll. My latest rock inspired pickup is a 2012 Triple Threads Onyx /50. It ran me $4 which is a good price for a high end card with only 50 copies made.
Here's the rock
And here's the troll...
I hate the Brewers more than any other team. It has nothing to do with the teams I watched growing up. Robin Yount is one of the best players of his generation. Gary Sheffield was one of my favorite players I got to watch play against the Yankees way back before he was traded to San Diego.
No my hatred of the Brew Crew has everything to do with Carlos Gomez, Ryan Braun, Yovani Gallardo, Rickie Weeks, Nyjer Morgan era...The list goes on and on. I hated those Brewers teams. Two guys I didn't hate though we're Prince Fielder and Corey Hart. I actually liked both those guys a lot.
Happy they lost their first place standings.
If the Pirates can't win the division, let the Cubbies win it again.
Let's finish on a good note
Did you know that Andrew's mother, who has sung the National Anthem at PNC Park a few times was also a top volleyball player and currently works in law enforcement?
The more you know...
Are there any teams you hate because of just a handful of players?
