I participated in another pick your player group break. This time it was 2 cases of Series 2 Topps Flagship.
I got a few cool cards in the break.
The best was this photo variant of Cutch fielding.
These aren't nearly as rare as they used to be in year's past unless you hit a SSP rookie. Then they are rare AND expensive. Look up the Vlad Jr for proof of that statement.
I got 22 base cards (nice number!) and one foil parallel.
The back of the base card doesn't have any fun facts about Andrew like in the past. Instead it just shows the first half of his hopefully Hall of Fame career.
With his limited 2019 season, he now sits at 48.8 career WAR through just over 10 seasons.
I didn't get any base 1984 Silver Pack parallels, but did score this black numbered to 199.
A Blog About My Journey To COLLECTING CUTCH. Over 3,500 unique cards and nearly 300 1/1s of Andrew McCutchen

Boomo Delivers a Super Rare Auto
2019 Inception just came out about two weeks ago and I joined a couple of player breaks and team breaks. Boomo99 has provided me with entertaining group breaks in the past.
He delivered for me again, hitting an on card autograph numbered to only 20 copies. He pulled this from the first case of a 4 case player break which was 11 minutes into the break.
I joined a few other group breaks held by other breakers for the Pirates because I wanted to get some Nick Burdi autographs. Unfortunately I didn't get any huge hits, netting just a pair of Kevin Newman green parallels and a single each for Newman, Kramer, and Burdi base.

50/50 chance
I have shown off a few of the player breaks I have participated in before to varying degrees of success.
Fortunately, I have never struck out completely by obtaining ZERO cards or cards of value for less than what I paid for my winning bid.
When I saw the Triple Threads checklist and noticed that Cutch had a few autographs in the product, I knew I would once again be participating in one.
The eBay seller rainwhiskerr offered an entertaining group break and made the break quick and fun. His youtube channel boomo99 provided the playback as I wasn't able to watch the break live.
While I didn't hit any major patches or even a sticker auto I did grab 2 base cards.
And a black/onyx parallel numbered to 50.
I guess there's always a 50/50 chance of not being successful. My best card in the case break was the Onyx parallel numbered 50/50.

All in all these 3 cards netted me a loss of about $6 from my gamble compared to if I had purchased them individually.

Another Case Break, Another Steal of Deal
Last month I entered a case break for a player of choice. The winning bid for my 2018 Chronicles Andrew McCutchen break was only $2.25.
While I didn't hit any major hits (relics or autos), I did manage to get a parallel and all of the base cards from the multiple inserts Cutch appears in.
The base card and back for Chronicles
The base card and back for Classics insert
The base card and back for Spectra insert
The lone parallel was the Classics /99.

5 Cases of Cards for $2.49? I Struck Gold!!!
So I joined another player break because I have been having good luck with them so far. While many people are going after the guys who have autographs, inserts, and are hot rookies I am scooping up multi case breaks of Andrew McCutchen.
For the low price of a $2.49 winning bid I bought into 5 cases of Topps Chrome cards that netted me 25 base cards, 4 refractors, and a really nice Gold Wave Refractor numbered to only 50 copies.
Not a bad deal, I must say.
The back of the card features the same writeup as Series 1 flagship.

Getting close to 2,000 unique Cutch cards
I joined a player case break that netted me three new Cutch cards and a handful of base doubles.
2017 Panini Chronicles is a combination of Prizm, Contenders, Spectra, among others that we have grown to like for their football and basketball releases.
Prizm Baseball despite the lack of logos was always one of my favorite products because the color parallels popped better than anything Topps produced.
Unfortunately I didn't hit the Prizm hits.
Nothing fancy. I got 8 base cards (front and back pictured side by side).
I like that Chronicles features a newspaper theme card about a specific event that occurred in the player's career. I feel like the base cards are very boring and could have been a bit more inspiring if done correctly. Include a box score instead of all that player information. Get an image from the game. Make it look more like a newspaper. It's just a very blah design.
No big autographs or patches or even low numbered parallels. Although I did secure the Gold /999 and Blue /399 as you can see below. My scanner hates to scan these foil parallels evidently as you can't tell the difference between gold and blue (number, the Chronicles logo, and foil numbering).
I have purchased the green online in addition to some of the hits from this set. One of them I am really looking forward to getting in hand as it looks amazing from the photo.
