It's Colossal

Well it's Thursday which means that Shark Week is getting closer to FINishing up.  Oh wow is that punny?!!!!

Even if you don't watch Shark Week and get excited for a week of documentaries like I do, I am sure that you have seen the image below.
Filmed in 2012 and featuring an iconic image for the Air Jaws documentary franchise, the image sees a 16 foot, 3000 pound great white shark breaching the water only 10 feet away from the Seal Sled filming.  The shark was named Colossus, an appropriate name for a fish that is the size of a Subaru Impreza.  I don't know about you but if I am in the open ocean and something that big comes out from under the sea with intents of killing a seal, I would probably have a heart attack from fear.

I like looking at the image of the great white shark named Colossus from afar.

Consequently, I like looking at my 2020 National Treasures Colossal card from up close
What a MASSIVE laundry tag patch embedded in this card.  The autograph only makes it more sweet. Limited to only 3 copies, this is one of my latest cards I "discovered" while going through some moving boxes.

Have you seen Air Jaws (or any of it's sequels)?

What are some other items you can think of that are 14-16ft long to put into perspective how big the shark Colossus is?

Debut of a new auto?

I am in the ever long process of trying to catalogue all my Andrew McCutchen cards.  Back in 2017 I had 125 unique certified autographs of Cutch.  You can revisit that post here.

Cutch has begun signing a lot more for Topps and Panini in the past two years and in 2019 alone there was 90 uniquely designed cards bearing a certified autograph of the former MVP.

It didn't hit me how insane that is until I personally went through to count them all.  I probably have close to half that many which is still an insane amount, but among all the autographs I have of Cutch NONE of them look like this 2019 Topps Chrome Debut Materials Autograph numbered to 50 copies.
You might look at that signature and not think anything looks unique about it.
A closer inspection of the signature will show some breaks of the pen not found in other Cutch cards I have signed.

I have seen Cutch put a break in the pen between the "T" and "C" on multiple occasions.

Even the one I got in person has a very slight break after the "T"
But I have never seen two breaks after the "T" like in the 2019 Rookie Debut Relic.  Often times I actually see no breaks for his newer style signature (post MLB debut) as can be seen below.
With so many players just putting legible initials at best as their signatures it is nice to see Cutch actually make a legible and identifiable signature on all his cards.
The back of the 2019 Topps Chrome Rookie Debut Gear Relic identifies this as an authentic signature of Andrew McCutchen.  I am sure it is a legit auto, but it is just odd to see a style signature he has never used before.  And with nearly 200 unique signatures of Cutch in my possession I feel I am an aspiring expert.

With only 8 more posts until I reach 1,000 posts here on Collecting Cutch, I have been slowly putting together some quality no filler posts as I march towards the millennium mark.

Going Green: Unity with AMC

Have you ever listened to some spellcasters and the phrases they say?  Maybe it's just me, but Harry Potter, Doctor Strange, and many others seem to say the word amuk.

Irish actress Evanna Lynch is no stranger to the word as she was a recurring character in the Harry Potter series.
AMC....pronounced amuk
Something about her knees makes me say (u)AM(yu)C(k)
Maybe it's just me though.

Tying into the word I will discuss a Cutch card labeled as AMC.

Triple Threads puts out a series of cards called unity relics each year.  Each unity relic features a different image of the player and is one of 3 different versions.  Some are harder to find then others.  All the unity relics have the standard Triple Threads numbering of /36, /27, /18, /9, /3, /1.

I have completed the gold unity relics /9 which I showed here.

The Emerald (green) Triple Threads relics are all numbered to 18 copies.

I am still in search of SJR-AM and SJR-AMU to complete the emerald set.

Above is the AMC....which pronounced is Amuk....
A spell has been cast for me to acquire the other unity relics.

First Grand Slam, 8 RBIs = Another Contest Winner

Last night Andrew McCutchen hit his first career grand slam.  It was career home run #202.  As I stated in a previous post I will continue to send out free cards for anyone who guessed a game he would hit a HR.

Sport Card Collectors guessed that Cutch would hit #200 on September 26th, but instead it was #202 and #203.  I am placing a COMC order this week and will be adding some cards for your collection based on your needs.

So how do I celebrate Cutch's first career Grand Slam?

How about a new 1/1 on bat auto?

This is my latest autograph from 2017 Immaculate.  It has been 5 years since Cutch signed anything but stickers for Topps and Panini.  I'm hoping that Topps could get Cutch to sign some more products, because as great as these Panini autographs are, nothing beats licensed products.

When I saw this 1/1 appear, I knew I had to add it to the collection.  It's one of the most expensive cards I have added, but once it arrived I can say it was worth every penny.

Cutch should be getting the Topps Now treatment today with his performance last night.  I might need to pick up a few depending on what the card looks like.

A contest is coming, but first...A Monster Unleashed!!!

Frankenstein
Dracula
WolfMan

There's many monsters of fiction.

I just captured a monster addition for the PC.

A dual jumbo bat booklet of two Pirates legends.

Boom!!!!

Willie Stargell is the Pirates All-Time Leader in Home Runs.

Andrew Mccutchen is one of only two Pirates to have 150 HR and 150 SB.  The other is Barry Bonds.

Cutch currently sits at 198 career HomeRuns.  When Cutch hits #200, I will reveal 200 of my most impressive cards.  You're not going to want to miss that post!!!  Will this booklet crack the top 200?

To further spark the intrigue...I will be running a contest.  Details will follow on that post.  Root Root Root for the Bucs and Cutch!!!
