Crisis Week: Legends of Tomorrow

Picking up where the first three episodes left off in December for the five part miniseries, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Arrow delivered a great way to kickstart the climatic conclusion last night.

It all comes to an end tonight at 8pm on Legends of Tomorrow.

In 2018 Topps had an insert series called Legends in the Making.

Andrew appeared in the insert series as both a member of the San Francisco Giants

And a Pittsburgh Pirate

Crisis Week: Arrow

Crisis Week continues tonight with the new episode of Arrow.

We have already seen one major character lose their life in the week long event that kicked off back in December with the first three parts of the 5 part cross franchise series event.  You can revisit my Crisis Week inspired cards here to see Flash, Supergirl, and Batwoman.

I chose this autograph 2011 Lineage card of Cutch because it is the Canary parallel and well...the Black Canary is forever linked to the Green Arrow in the comics.

They would eventually get married in the comics.

From all incarnations of DC Animation, the two have always been paired up at various stages.  The Justice League Unlimted episode "Double Date" which prominitely features Green Arrow, The Question, and the pair of Birds of Prey characters (Hundreds and Black Canary) is my second favorite episode produced.  My favorite? The Great Brain Robbery is the winner. (The Flash is one of my favorite comic characters ever!!!)

Mike Grell is the definitive Green Arrow artist and really made the character a more mature read back in the 80s.

The first season of Arrow introduced a new spin on the Queen/Lance relationship that we are so used to from the comics.

Crisis Week: The Flash

Crisis Week continues tonight at 8pm on The Flash.

One of my favorite comic characters is The Flash.  There have been multiple people who have worn the Flash costume over the years.  I was born when the collected series "Crisis on Infinite Earths".  Thus my generation Flash is Wally West who was originally Kid Flash.

The Flash that is the main character on the CW show is Barry Allen. In the comics, Barry's arch enemy is Reverse Flash. 

Wally West eventually gets his own Reverse Flash in the form of Dr. Hunter Solomon aka Professor Zoom in the comic books.

In the early seasons of CW's Flash series Zoom appeared and was terrifying.

Cutch took the moniker Zoom for Player's Weekend in 2018.

Crisis Week: Batwoman

Last night's Crisis event kicked off with an incredible ending that will lead to many more questions in the Arrowverse to come.  I won't reveal any spoilers, but Kevin Smith said it best when he compared the event to what happened in "the other universe" referring to what happened in the MCU's Avengers: Endgame heroics.

All I can say is more Kat McNamara is a good thing for the Arrowverse.

The event continues tonight on Batwoman at 8pm.

Batwoman is a show I haven't gotten into yet.  I am hoping that this Crisis on Infinite Earths event leads me to become a bigger fan of Batwoman.

Batwoman tells the story of Bruce Wayne's cousin who takes up the mantle of the caped crusader and protector of Gotham after Bruce has been missing for three years.  The character of Batwoman (Kate Kane) is portrayed on screen by Ruby Rose.  I have always liked Ruby Rose as an actress and model.  I featured a bit about her a few years ago during Shark Week when her movie, The Meg, was coming out.  You can revisit that post here.

Any girl with a tattoo of a Ninja Turtle on her arm is cool in my book.

For those that don't remember Ruby before her Justin Bieber style haircut, she used to have long blonde hair

Since Topps created their Triple Threads brand, Topps has always used their 1/1 base cards and even relic cards to have a red parallel they call Ruby.

Panini uses rubies in their products as well.  They use not only the name, but actual rubies in their Flawless product (along with Diamonds, Emeralds, and Sapphires)

The red parallel has 2 Rubies and a Diamond inserted.

The blue parallel has a Ruby, Diamond, and Sapphire.

Hopefully tonight's Batwoman episode is a real gem (pun intended).

Crisis Week: Supergirl

I have always been a bigger Marvel Comics fan than DC Comics fan.  The X-Men (and all the other X books), Iron Man, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Darkhawk. These were all comics I loved to read growing up.

It wasn't until I was an adult did I really get into reading DC Comics.  Now don't get me wrong, I loved Batman as a kid, but I never bought a single issue of Batman to read until I was in my 20s.  As I matured more into adulthood I really grew towards The Flash.  The stories written by Mark Waid and Grant Morrison made me realize what an incredible life Wally West had lead from teenage speedster to the superhero who would forever have to live with the mantle of "your uncle saved the entire universe".

Similar to Marvel's Cinematic Universe crafting stories spanning a decade across over 20 live action movies, DC Comics Superheroes will be facing a universe event beginning this week when the tv shows Supergirl, Arrow, Flash, Black Lightning, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow kickstart an event loosely based on DC Comics' Crisis on Infinite Earths.

The event will feature characters from past TV shows and movies as all the DC Comics Universe tries to create (or destroy) all the universes and meld them into one.  We will see for the first time on screen in over decades characters from Smallville, Birds of Prey, Tim Burton's Batman, Superman Returns, Wonder Woman, the original Flash TV series, Supergirl the Movie, etc all appear.  Even the voice of Batman: The Animated Series, Kevin Conroy, will be appearing.

It is going to be epic.

And I will be watching.

The event kickstarts tonight on Supergirl.

In 2016 Topps produced an insert set to mirror the 1969 Topps Supers.

The stoic pose really makes this card look like Cutch is a hero overlooking his city, or in this case, the backfields of Bradenton, Florida.
