Subtle differences

As is often the case Topps intentionally creates variations on their Heritage line each year.

Some are a throwback to the original.
Some are a product of drawing interest for their case breakers.

This year there are various backs you can get.

Bright yellow is one of them.

The scan really shows the bold and vibrant "Bright Yellow" variant much better than the naked eye.  As a matter of fact I even sent the seller a message asking if they really sent the right card.

In addition to those, I also have a few other Heritage variants.

The blue border, color swap logo, and base are on the top row.
The base chrome, refractor chrome, and blue border chrome are on the bottom.

The Color Swap variant has a yellow back.

In addition to those variants there is also a Flip Stock variant.  These are very cool, but very difficult to spot in a top loader.  The flip stock is exactly what it sounds like.  The stock on the cards have been flipped.  The front is a rougher stock similar to a matte finish.  The back is a smooth glossy finish.

My first Cutch relic of 2017

2017 Topps has been out for awhile.  While I have been aggressively adding some key cards from years gone by to my collection I have completely neglected trying to add Cutch 2017 relics to the PC.  I often find the flagship relics to sell really high upon a product's initial release then fall to the $5 or less mark after about a year.  That's normally when I seek out the lesser desired relics of Cutch.

Every now and then though a card will hit the market that you look at and say "I need that because chances are I won't see it again."

Such was the case when this 2017 Major League Material Relic hit eBay.

The card is numbered 3/25 and features a really nice swatch of the Jolly Roger sleeve patch.

I've got some other 2017 relics coming in soon from Heritage, but for now this is my first of (hopefully) many more Cutch Pirates relics produced in 2017.

Walk Off Hero: More Team USA cards

The past few days I have been showing off some pairings of Team USA teammates with Cutch.

I already showed a massive Quad jumbo jersey with Arenado, Stanton, Cutch, and Rizzo.

I have also shown some of my JHay cards paired with Cutch when it was announced the teammates would join Team USA.

Today I thought I would show off a few other of my Cutch pairings.

To start, I guess it makes sense to highlight Adam Jones.  Both players have had similar career paths so far, having both been to multiple All-Star appearances, playing Center field, similar career numbers, and helping to lead their teams back to being perenial postseason contenders.

Last night Adam Jones was key for the success of Team USA beating Columbia in extra innings.

As you can see I have a lot of combo cards of Cutch with Adam Jones.  The booklet you are about to see is one of my favorite booklets I own.

Next up could very well be this generation's greatest catcher.  Buster Posey is on a Hall of Fame career path having already won 3 World Series, an MVP, batting title, Rookie of the Year, and 4 time All-Star.  

The card above also features fellow USA teammate Giancarlo Stanton and Cutch on the back.  This card is an absolute monster.  The patches on this card are absolutely nasty too!!!!  And there's only 10 of them produced.

My final Team USA pairing with Cutch is Andrew Miller.
Miller became a recognizable name after last year's postseason as he mowed down his opponents while winning the ALCS MVP. 

Only 2 of these uncirculated dual autographs from Just Minors were produced.  I have seen the other pop up on eBay, but have no desire to grab it.

There are actually a bunch of Just Minors dual autos and triple autos of Cutch being sold by Stonersports that I need.  I just don't go after them very aggressively because they always seem to be available.

A massive addition to the PC

I promised yesterday that I would show off a massive card today and I intend to keep that promise.

Each year, National Treasures tends to be one of my favorite releases due to the quality they put in the product.

2016 NT was no different.  I've already shown some of my cards from this year's release.  This one however is by far, my biggest one yet.  It's so big in fact that when unfolded it didn't fit entirely on my scanner.

It's not as low numbered as other NT cards I have shown, but this card does feature some of my other favorite players in MLB.  Jumbo jersey relics of Anthony Rizzo, Nolan Arenado, and Giancarlo Stanton all join Cutch in this Quad Relics Booklet.

This is my first Arenado relic I have.  I would like to add more in the near future.

I missed out on the two previous ones listed on eBay and when this hit, the seller and I negotiated a deal to get this in my hands for a price what my two missed opportunities went for.

I am grateful that I can cross this off the list now.  The trouble is displaying it.  I just ordered a custom case from hardball34 to get this thing properly displayed.

Three of these Superstars will be on Team USA.  Stanton looks to be starting in Right Field and Arenado will likely be the team's starting 3B.

Tomorrow I will show off my other Stanton cards that I have paired up with Cutch.

Gold Digging

I recently saw a card on eBay that I thought I owned, but when I checked my spreadsheet and looking through my collection I couldn't find it.

Well....I did have one, but it was slightly different.

I had the 2014 Series 1 Gold Label card, but not the Series 2.

Now I have both and they look awesome next to each other.

I don't know if there were different classes for these inserts.  Both of these are Class 1 and numbered to 99 copies.

Over the weekend I will be showcasing some multiplayer cards of Cutch with members of Team USA.  Be sure to check out tomorrow for a monster sized card.  It's a HUGE card!!!!

The Show!

When a player makes it to the Major Leagues, it's commonly referenced as "making it to the show."

Thanks to a strong social media presence in late 2012 Andrew McCutchen was able to garner enough votes to become the face of the video game franchise The Show (actual autograph on case below).

Over the years, Cutch has also had cardboard reference his video game presence.

My favorite is a 2013 Triple Tnreads card citing the game.

The COMC Big Ones

A few days ago I showed off the lot of cards I purchased on COMC to boost my Cutch total to over 1,500 unique cards.  I left off the oversized cards when I initially posted.

It's nice to get another Kershaw/Cutch combo card.  I wonder if Greg has that one yet.
