R.I.P. Batgirl

Today I am going to show off someone who lost the battle of breast cancer.  The famous actress, Yvonne Craig, passed away in 2015 when her metastatic breast cancer spreading to her liver.

This is why WE MUST ALL work together to try and find a cure.

Please remember that all month long for October I am running multiple contests for some great prizes.

In addition I will be making a donation based on the number of comments left by my readers.  Comments made by myself are excluded as are spam comments.  My goal is to get to $150 so we can have enough money for at least one woman to get a free mammogram.  It is looking promising to hit that goal.

Keep those comments coming.

Remember that 1 in 8 women will be detected with breast cancer in their lifetime.  Think about 8 family members or coworkers or friends and picture one of them contacting this terrible disease.  We CAN make a difference though.

I have most of the month mapped out with the cards I will be using this year.  Feel free to offer suggestions for who you may want to include.  Be aware though that if the person is just an Instagram THOT (look it up if you don't know what that means) I likely will not include them.

Yvonne Craig will be highlighted today.
Born in 1937

She appeared in multiple movies and science fiction shows including Star Trek across William Shatner

The picture below would be very Instagram worthy in today's age.

She also appeared in the Man from U.N.C.L.E.

And of course the Adam West starred Batman where she starred as Batgirl and was always getting caught and tied up

She even had a costarring role opposite The King himself

Elvis Presley was the biggest musical act and actor of the 60s.

I love that picture above.  Yvonne looks so fun and playful.

I have a triple autograph magenta printing plate featuring a different Elvis (Andrus) along with Andrew McCutchen and Carlos Santana.
It is from an uncirculated set of Just Minors cards.

Rest in peace Yvonne

  1. She was my first crush, from watching the Batman show on reruns in the late 1980s.

I recently discovered she had an autographed card in I think a star trek set.

    1. For me it was more like the mid 70s, but, yeah, a big childhood crush, probably my first. A strong woman in purple spandex, always having to fight hordes of villains or getting tied up? What more could I want?

  2. I watched Batman every day growing up, and she definitely was a beautiful lady...and a hottie in the BATGIRL suit.
    Well done!

  3. Loved Batgirl, and Julie Newmar Catwoman. As a kid couldn't decide which I liked better. Still love both.

  4. I really need to go back and watch the Batman TV series. Wish Amazon, Hulu, or Netflix carried it.
